NBA Jersey Promo Update – 1/13

Well, last night did not go as planned. Basically every favorite I liked lost (shocker) and my only successful pick was my underdog ML play on the Heat to beat the Hawks. Apparently, I have the ability to cool off any team except for my own… good to know. Tonight, I’m going to return to my strategy of taking underdogs. This might be a classic case of whiplash, but you don’t know until you lose.

First of all, no I did not increase my winnings from $65 to $135 (though I do wish I could have). Instead, I’ve updated the tracker to reflect my progress more accurately. Now it shows the difference between my winnings and wagers. As of yesterday, that nets out to -$15.00. When you add in the $150.00 e-gift card I get at the end of this promo, it shows I will have earned $135.00. A few more wins and I push that number back up or a few more losses and that number goes further down. Let’s hope it’s the former.

Todays Picks

I will say that I was tempted to take the Timberwolves tonight against my Grizzlies. It seems as though this has all the makings of an oversight game and the Wolves have played the Grizz tough at times this season. I wouldn’t be surprised if we lose. I ultimately decided I couldn’t go against my team like that, but make of it what you will.

Pick #1: $2.00 on the Golden State Warriors ML (@ the Milwaukee Bucks) +100

I get the Warriors as underdogs. That’s it. That’s the tweet. But also, the Warriors are still a great team coming off a loss to an even better team (hehe) and the Bucks are in a bit of a slump. I think the Warriors can take care of business and apparently so do the sharps. This line has moved from Bucks-2.5 to Bucks-1 today. As Yank and I laid out all football season long, it’s good to be on the side of line movement. I don’t know for sure if sharps have the same impact, but I would think so. We’ll see tonight.

Pick #2: $2.00 on the Oklahoma City Thunder ML (@ the Brooklyn Nets) +190

Did you raise your eyebrows after reading this pick? I don’t blame you. But here’s the reason: no KD, no Kyrie, no Patty Mills, no LaMarcus Aldridge and the Nets played last night in Chicago and are high on life. It’s basically just out of shape James Harden and a bunch of other guys. The Thunder can absolutely win this game. The fear here is that the guys freed from the bench play hard to take advantage of their opportunity, but the Thunder don’t have too many opportunities to win either.
