Super Bowl LVI

Intro by Yank

The Super Bowl is here my friends! Everybody who has ever watched a football game has weighed in with their take and now it is time for Sam and I to do the same. If you are looking for reasoned, thoughtful analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of each team from experts with a proven track record, look elsewhere! As you can see below we each had these teams as our 8th and 10th best teams in the entire playoffs. After taking a victory lap for ending the regular season with winnings in our pockets, we have hemorrhaged money in the postseason. As always, the most important advice is to fade us with every dollar in your pocket. Nevertheless, we call this blog One Last Line for a reason. The Super Bowl finds us in the (online Sportsbook) room where it happens for the last time this year. Will we end with some George Washingtons on our side? Read on to find out.

Super Bowl LVI Picks

The Los Angeles Rams-4 @ the Cincinnati Bengals

Sam: Although this postseason has really shaken my confidence, I won’t be stirred away from betting this game. The reasoning is pretty straightforward. The Bengals have no business being in this game and the Rams should clearly be the favorite. It’s easy to find every reason to doubt them: they have no OLine, they don’t have big name players on defense, the Rams DLine is a major mismatch and so on and so forth. And yet, the Bengals are here for a reason. The obvious choice is the Rams and Yank and I have pointed out all season why you should resist the obvious choice. As you can see, the line has settled at Rams-4 over the Bengals while Yank and I are on slightly altered lines. I’m going with the Bengals because they’re outgunned, outmanned, outnumbered, outplanned, but Joe Burrow is on their side.

Yank: It must be nice to have Joe Burrow on your side. Every week I’ve been on this blog singing the same thing about how the Bengals stink, and every week I have lost money going against them. Guess what, I don’t believe in them again! Sam lays out a great case above and totally leaves out the Cooper Kupp factor, the Jalen Ramsey factor, and the master versus apprentice coaching element, all of which favor the Rams. BUT! All the Rams love this week leaves out a couple questionable elements for the home team as well. First and foremost, are we sure Matthew Stafford can do this? Sam and I were as down as you can be on him entering the playoffs when he was on a multi-game pick six streak. He’s been great for three rounds, was that an exception or the new rule? Also as a Giants fan who knows a thing or two about the nobody-believes-in-us factor, the Bengals have an incredibly strong case for that same mentality. To play in the Super Bowl where everyone loves your opponent, with their flashy stars and all the glitz and glamor is a huge motivating factor. The Bengals have reason to believe in their wunderkind QB. If they can keep it close and apply some pressure to the Rams, I like their chances to come through. (P.s. as a Giants fan I also love OBJs chances to find the end zone in this game).

Yank’s Pick: $5.00 on a same game parlay Bengals+6.5 and Game Over 40.5 (+135) and $5.00 on Odell Beckham to score a TD (+140)

Sam’s Pick: $7.00 on the Bengals+5.5 (-125)
