Intro by Yank
The mid season doldrums are here. Our spirits, so high at the beginning of the season, falter. Our luck, strong to start out the year, has faded. The length of these intro paragraphs has decreased. But we press on, not because we have to, or even because we’re morally obligated to. We do it because…it’s fun? That’s right, it’s fun. Let’s win some money this week, that would be fun.
Week 7 Picks
The Collaboration:
The Houston Texans+3 @ the Green Bay Packers
Sam: The Texans are definitely one of the best units in football. A road game in Lambeau is always going to be tough, but good teams like the Texans find ways to win these games. Thankfully we just need to cover.
Yank: Everyone loves the Packers again because they killed the Cardinals. The Cardinals are bad! Meanwhile I like the Texans as one of the 6-7 best teams in the league. Three is a lot of points even on the road.
Yank’s Pick: $11.00 on the Texans+3 (-110)
Sam’s Pick: $5.00 on the Texans+3 (-110)
The Pittsburgh Steelers+1.5 vs. the New York Jets
Yank: We tried this last week and were seconds away from hitting it: the Steelers to lose the first half but win the game. Let’s give it another shot here. Feels like the Jets could easily come out hot but I like the Steelers to ultimately pull it out at home.
Sam: I felt good about last week’s bet, and we were right there. Feels like this is another perfect opportunity to run this bet back. Add in that the odds are so high, it’s worth running this back until it hits.
Yank’s Pick: $5.00 on the Jets to win 1H but Steelers win game (+831)
Sam’s Pick: $5.00 on the Jets to win 1H but Steelers win game (+831)
The Confrontation:
The Detroit Lions+1.5 @ the Minnesota Vikings
Sam: SKOL vikes baby! I’m all in on the Vikings after the 5-0 start. They’re coming off a bye week which gave them a little recovery and time to prep for a good Lions team. The added prep makes me think the Vikings should have edge in this one.
Yank: I like the Vikings a lot this year but I like the Lions even more. Much like the Texans above you will see a lot of bets from me on the Lions the rest of the way I think they finish as a top 3 seed in the NFC. I think they should be favored in this one, so happy to take the points.
Yank’s Pick: $5.00 on the Lions+1.5
Sam’s Pick: $5.00 on the Vikings-5
The Kansas City Chiefs+1.5 @ the San Francisco 49ers
Yank: Patrick Mahomes getting points should basically not be allowed. What are the chances he has the ball with 2-3 min left with a chance to score and take the lead, 99%? I’m happy to bet that scenario comes up and bet that he comes through.
Sam: Yank has it right here, but something tells me the 49ers are about to get on a winning streak. They’ll have the Super Bowl memories playing through their head and use that motivation to attack this depleted Chiefs offense.
Yank’s Pick: $11.00 on the Chiefs+2(-110)
Sam’s Pick: $5.00 on the 49ers-2 (-110)
The Isolation:
The Philadelphia Eagles-3 @ the New York Giants
Yank: The Eagles have beaten the Giants in every meaningful regular season game for essentially the last decade. The Giants just lost their best offensive player, Andrew Thomas the LT, for the season. I think this is going to get ugly so I might as well win some money on it at least.
Yank’s Pick: $11.00 on the Eagles-3(-110)
