Intro by Sam

The Sunday after Thanksgiving can be a little bit of a letdown, with so many fewer games than usual it’s hard for the matchups to feel as important. Lucky for us some of our favorite teams to bet against are still playing. These ones may not be super fun to watch, but hopefully, they will be good for the wallets. Let’s get to the picks.
Week 13 Picks
The Collaboration:
The Seattle Seahawks @ the New York Jets-1
Sam: This is a no-brainer for us. The Jets must continue to get tons of public money because these lines don’t make any sense. During their respective Jets tenures, Zac Wilson has been a more productive QB than Rodgers. Do you think if Wilson was playing in this game, the Jets would be favored?
Yank: We will keep firing against the Jets as long as the lines don’t make sense, and here we have another inexplicable line. Why are the Jets not underdogs in this game? They are on a huge losing streak, their interim coach has been a disaster and their QB is basically in open rebellion against the franchise. Seattle is totally fine and should be able to win this game.
Yank’s Pick: $11.50 on the Seahawks+1 (-115)
Sam’s Pick: $6.20 on the Seahawks+1 (-115)
The Tennessee Titans @ the Washington Commanders-6
Yank: The Titans winning last week in a weird division game has done nothing to throw me off their scent. They are the worst combination of QB and coach in the league and going against them down the stretch should continue to pay dividends. This should be a get-right game for the Commanders against a less talented opponent.
Sam: Yank lays out the case for this pick, but I will say, it does worry me that we are fully in the “all of the teams have figured out the Kingsbury Offense” portion of the season. His teams always collapse halfway through the season and we’ve started to see signs of that in D.C. I’m going to give them a nervous shot due to their opponent, but it’s something to look out for going forward.
Yank’s Pick: $10.80 on the Commanders-6 (-108)
Sam’s Pick: $7.50 on the Commanders-6 (-108)
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers-6 @ the Carolina Panthers
Sam: The Baker Mayfield Bucs are one of the more fun stories in the league right now. He had a great time with healthy Mike Evans and Chris Godwin but has managed to keep the team afloat with both of them missing time. Despite the Panther’s recent moments of success, I think the Bucs will take care of business and we’ll see more of the normal Panthers that we expect.
Yank: This seems to be against conventional wisdom, but I believe the Bucs have one of the best offenses in the league. Carolina has looked pluckier in recent weeks but they are still one of the least talented teams in the league particularly on defense. I like the Bucs to open up a big lead in this one and never look back.
Yank’s Pick: $10.80 on the Buccaneers-6.5 (-108)
Sam’s Pick: $10.80 on the Buccaneers-6.5 (-108)
The Houston Texans-3.5 @ the Jacksonville Jaguars
Yank: Everyone is worried about Houston now after the loss to Tennessee but sometimes division games can be a mirage. The scary part is this is also a division game. That said, Doug Pederson is a dead man walking and his team has been listless for weeks. This is a nice bounce-back spot for the Texans and I think it will be a big bounce.
Sam: Are we sure Trevor Lawrence is healthy? Even if he’s almost healthy, he’ll have to face Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson. That can’t be a pleasant experience. This was a close game last matchup, only because the Jags mounted a 4th quarter comeback attempt that ended in a comedy of errors. I expect this to be a better performance from the Texans and pretty much the same malpractice from the Jaguars.
Yank’s Pick: $10.20 on the Texans-3.5 (-108)
Sam’s Pick: $10.20 on the Texans-3.5 (-108)
