NFL Week 5 – 2025

Intro by Sam

Last week was one of those opposite weeks for Yank and me. Yank feels like he’s got things figured out, while I’m about ready to hang it up. Hopefully, we can both get on the winning side of things this week.

Week 5 Picks

The Collaboration

The Detroit Lions-10.5  @ the Cincinnati Bengals

Yank: Over the last few years, our favorite and most successful bets have been laying the points consistently with specific top-flight teams. This Lions team knows who they are and what they do. They are going to physically hammer you. Meanwhile, this Cincy team has been looking for excuses to give up for weeks. The defense was duct-taped together before they lost Joe Burrow, who was their reason to believe. Laying the big number seems scary here, but it shouldn’t be.

Sam: Yank has this covered. The Lions are good, the Bengals are really bad. Take top-flight teams against bottom-of-the-barrel teams. They usually cover.

Yank’s Pick: $11.50 on the Lions-9.5 (-115)

Sam’s Pick: $11.40 on the Lions-9.5 (-114)

The Confrontation

The Dallas Cowboys-2.5 @ the New York Jets

Sam: The Jets are horrible. Justin Fields hoodwinked us all in Week 1 by putting up a big score against the Steelers. Since then, it’s been a bunch of bad play and back-door covers. What they can give me is inconsistent at best. Meanwhile, yes, the Cowboys’ defense is the worst in the league, but their offense is near the top. The nice thing about playing Justin Fields is that you don’t need a good defense to stop him. I’ll lean on the consistent Dallas Offense in this one.

Yank: This is a simple one for me. I am not sure this terrible Cowboys team should be favored against anyone. They have given up roughly one million points on the season already. This is a let-down spot after getting up for the Micah Parsons return game. If the Jets can hang around in this one, and the Dallas defense should give them every opportunity to do so, I like their chances.

Yank’s Pick: $5.00 on the Jets+2.5 (+100)

Sam’s Pick: $5.00 on the Cowboys-2.5 (+100)

The Money Line Parlay of the Week

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ the Seattle Seahawks- 3.5

The Denver Broncos @ the Philadelphia Eagles-3.5

Yank:  For this week’s parlay, we are again backing Baker Mayfield, who continues to be doubted by the general public. I think he’s got a decent shot to be in position for another game-winning drive late in Seattle. Let’s throw the Eagles in to juice the odds. Denver hasn’t done much to prove they are actually any good. It should not be too big a problem for Philly at home.

Sam: Baker vs Darnold is a swirling storm of Panthers regret. In this matchup, we’ll be taking Baker and his array of weapons. Meanwhile, the Eagles continue to fall into the bet every week category. Throw in that one of my preseason takes was that the Broncos wouldn’t be as good this season, and this parlay feels like a no-brainer.

Yank’s Pick: $10.00 on a Bucs/Eagles ML parlay (+291)

Sam’s Pick: $10.00 on a Bucs/Eagles ML parlay (+280)

Rapid-Fire Isolation Picks

Yank’s Picks:

$17.20 on the Las Vegas Raiders+7(112) @ the Indianapolis Colts

$11.00 on the New England Patriots @ the Buffalo Bills-7.5 (-110)

Yank: We continue to bet against Daniel Jones every week, by hook or by crook. In the nightcap, Buffalo is very similar to the description of the Lions in the Collaboration: a top team worth backing despite a big number.

Sam’s Picks:

$10.99 on the Buffalo Bills-7.5 (-110) VS the New England Patriots

$5.40 on the Arizona Cardinals-7.5 (-108) VS the Tennessee Titans
