It’s hard to believe we are almost halfway through the season already. It feels like football just started, but November is getting around the corner. And, don’t look now, but while the weather is getting colder outside, maybe, just maybe, our picks are starting to heat up?
Week 8 Picks
The Collaboration
The Buffalo Bills-7 @ the Carolina Panthers
Yank: This one is back to a time-honored fact I’ve quoted on this blog, what feels like a million times. Teams that are favored for a road game the week after their bye cover the spread at a 60+% clip. Buffalo fulfills those criteria. Lock in the wager.
Sam: Despite Dalton being the QB for the Panthers this week, this pick makes me nervous. The Bills haven’t looked sharp since Week 1. That being said, I’m holding my breath and going with our principles. They should take care of business, right?

The Confrontation
The New York Giants @ the Philadelphia Eagles-7
Sam: There were good vibes and good reports coming out of Giants camp this offseason, and while it hasn’t exactly gone according to plan, we’ve seen the flashes. Most recently, a disappointing loss of course, but they took out the Eagles shortly before that. Why would I think anything has drastically changed since then? The Eagles got the monkey off their back by beating a pathetic Vikings offensive showing in the red zone, but otherwise didn’t look that impressive. I’m not sold that things are fixed there and the Giants have a game plan for them.
Yank: The Giants continue to find new ways to rip my heart out of my chest week after week. I thought I had grown smart enough to be numb to the pain, but Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo reeled me back in. Fresh off a horrible loss in Denver, the NFL schedule makers give them the Eagles for the second time in three weeks. As they proved last week, I’m sure they will find some way to screw this up.

The Money Line Parlay of the Week
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers-3.5 @ the New Orleans Saints
The Dallas Cowboys @ the Denver Broncos-3.5
Yank: We like to try to get a bet in against the horrible Saints every week. Check. The Broncos looked exceptionally vulnerable last week against basically a half team in the Giants. In comes a new half team to town, with an even better offense. Check. Worth a rip!
Sam: I get to bet on the heart attack Bucs and against the Broncos in one bet? Sign me up. While it hasn’t played out exactly in the wins and losses, I feel like my Bo Nix take to start the year has been pretty well founded. Meanwhile, the Bucs are a winning machine, and they’re playing the Saints, who, as I’ve said many times before, I will likely go against every week.
